4 Months and 4 Days

Has it really only been 4 months since these girls came home? We have come so far. They have grown so much. Mama has had so little sleep. I wonder where we will be when we reach one year home. They have gone through so many adjustments since they came home. They have a ways to go, but their progress is amazing.
The changes aren't ending though as we are in the process of deciding on/qualifying for preschool for Leeza. Then we will be working a few months later on preschool for Sasha. I will know by March 16th if Leeza gets into the prescool that I want her to go to. It has special programs to help her learn english. If she gets in, she will go there for 2 hours a day. They will pick her up at daycare and return her to day care.
They got the baskets when they first came home, but I have had them put away for a while. Leeza is too big to sit in it, but shesure did try. Sasha's little legs still fit just fine. The rest of her body didn't, but she still had fun. She is so cute!!It is time like these that I realize how little they still are. They seem so big when they are jumping on you. They like their table and are using it for snack time as well as coloring and reading. This picture took some setting up to do. I wanted to get a good picture of their Big/ Little sister t shirts. They probably won't wear anything like these in another year. Sasha is already a little fashion diva and has to have just the right shade of pink pants on to match her top. Leeza is much more laid back and her only wish is for pockets on all of her clothes.

Updates for the week:
I Got It. This is the girls new favorite sentence. They both say this repeatedly. They want to open the door by themselves, dress themselves, bring something to the table etc. They scream out I got it to call dibs on who gets to do it.
They are doing fairly good at picking up. Sasha is still easily distracted, but the room gets relatively picked up in about 10 minutes.
They help me set the table now by carrying things from the refrig or counter to the table.
Sasha's is using many 3 or 4 word sentences now. Leeza is using a few, but she is starting to try to do more. I think Sasha knows her colors as we were reading a book and she could tell me what color about half of the items were. She also know the number 3. For some reason, if you show her 1 or 2 of an item, she doesn't know what it is, but show her 3 and she knows there are 3! Leeza seems to know purple and pink. Considering most of her clothes are purple or pink, I guess I am not surprised.
I got some Curious George the monkey DVDs. THe girls love them. Sasha goes crazy when the theme song plays. They run from one side of the room to the other and then they drop down and pretend to be dogs. I am not sure why they act like dogs for a monkey video, but they seem to have a great time doing it. I however am getting sick of the DVDs as they want to watch them constantly. I guess they are better than Barney so I am not going to complain.

Random Cuteness

I stole this post's title from a friend's blog.
We didn't wear our pants today once we played with some water and got them wet. Can you tell which one needs the new pull-up? Hint- pullups get really saggy in the butt when they need changing. They watched Olympic curling today. I don't think they are big fans yet.
I got the girls a table and some chairs for their coloring. They of course had to stand on the chairs.
I didn't get the table put together the first night, so they just hung out sitting on the chairs and Sasha on the table.
The base of the table was fun to play with while they waited for mama to get the top installed.
I eventually did get the table put together. It is just slightly big for them now, but they should bee able to use it for a few years.
Our latest weekly update:
The girls have learned to say I'm sorry. well sort of. It doesn't matter who did the wrong, if I tell one of them to say sorry, they both hold out their arms for a hug and say very sadly, "I'm sorry" and give each other a big hug. It is so cute.
They no longer allow me to undress them, but since they still can't get their pants over their butts, they help each other out. Mama is not usually allowed to help. They put the pants and socks in the sink and the pull ups in the garbage can. I do get to help a little with the shirts if they get stuck on their heads.
I keep my junk mail in the car now as the girls love to open it and look at the pictures and it keeps them quiet on the ride to and from daycare. The floor in the back seat however is filled with paper and toys and other assorted kids stuff. You never know what will show up when I clean it out.
At bedtime, I now have to cover them in a blanket before I sing to them. And then they are requesting certain songs. I have to figure out what song they are wanting or there is much unhappiness. Bi bi is the Spider song or better know as the Itsy Bitsy spider. Be be is the I'm a little tea pot song. Po is Ring around the Rosey.
Their newest delay tactic at bedtime is to ask for kisses-repeatedly. So cute and also effective in delaying bedtime- for a few minutes anyway.
Leeza is wearing only 3t now. Sahsa is wearing 2t pants and 2t or 3t shirts. Kohls had a really good sale on summer clothes this weekend so I bought them a bunch. I did not get any 2t stuff as Sahsa will be into 3T before summer. I ended up with 20 shirts, 3 capri pants and 2 skirts for $100. They were on sale and I had a discount code and free shipping. They were regularly $12-15 each so not a bad deal.
Leeza is into helping mama now. Sasha helps some also. They love to carry things to the table at meal time. So I get the table set(well at least all the dishes are on the table somewhere). They both love to throw things in the garbage. Leeza is starting to help pick things up. Sasha a little, but she gets distracted and starts playing with the stuff she is suppose to pick up. They both love to dust-yeah. I can't wait until they are tall enough to dust my shelves.

Valentines Day

The girls went to the beauty salon and got their haircut Saturday. Leeza cried when we put her in the chair at first. So I sat with Sasha inthe chair while she got her haircut and then Leeza hopped right up into the chair all by herself. I think Leeza came out really good. Her hair in the back and her bangs feels so much better and silkier than before. The sides are still a little fuzzy, but I think the next haircut will take care of that.Sasha had an inch cut off, but it is hard to tell that she had it cut.Jami, the lady who cuts their hair, gave them a singing bee and a teddy bear. They love the bee. It is really annoying as it sings How sweet it is and dances.I got to listen to the bee sing all the way home and then all the rest of the evening. The teddy bear is cute and silent. I like the silent part.

ANd now for the weekly update:
Sasha has started to eat vegetables. She has eaten corn twice, carrots twice, peas at daycare and even lettuce(I was having a salad and she had to have some). Leeza still won't eat any.
Sasha is saying sentences now. Just a few simple ones- I want color(she wanted to color) or her favorite -I want cookie. Leeza is almost there, but not quite. I am still finding it harder to understand them both as their words are not as clear as they were and they are saying many more. Sasha was wanting me to do "ba bow" today. I finally figured out that meant play room. And Leeza wanted "pop i" earlier this week. I have no idea what that is. I asked her daycare teacher if they did any thing like popeye and she had no clue either.
Leeza finished her antibiotics 2 days ago for an ear infection and I think she is getting sick again already! Sasha has had a runny nose almost every day for over a month. I will be glad when winter is over!
They had a Valentine's Day party at day care which means lots of sugar. I got to deal with repeated melt downs Friday night. Leeza does not do well with lots of sugar. I gave them some chocolate that they got for Valentines Day. Then they found the box that Aunt Debbie sent. I thought it was just cards and stuffed animals, but they found the chocolate in it and ate it while I wasn't looking. Way too much sugar for one weekend.
I put another box of clothes away today. Sasha has moved in size 24 pants. She wears 2t or 3t tops and Leeza wears 3t tops. I will probably start putting Leeza in size 3t pants this week.

We are not spoiled!

Yesterday, Sasha caught me taking her favorite size 18 doggie PJs away to put in a box. She wanted to wear them one more time, but she has been wearing the backward blanket sleepers so she will not take off her clothes in the night and wet the bed. I asked her if she promised to keep her clothes on and she said yes. Now I really doubted she understood what I was saying, but I figured it was Saturday night so if I had to wash sheets Sunday, it would be ok. I checked the monitor first thing in the morning and was thrilled to see she still had on her clothes! Once I got to the room, I saw that she did have on her clothes, but her pants were inside out. She had taken off her pants and diaper, wet the bed, and then put everything back on. I guess she kept her promise, I just didn't have her promise the right thing!
The girls had a good time Sunday afternoon bouncing in their combo bounce house and ball pit. They did not like it at all at first and they were scared when I first turned it on. Instead of cries of happiness, I had 2 crying scared kids. Eventually, I had to crawl in it myself and show them how to play in it. If you can't tell, the unit is NOT made for adults. I had to sort of crawl on my stomach and finally ended up in the ball pit end. The girls then came in the bounce house, but thought they should bounce on mama instead of the house. It took about an hour before they would play without me inside of it.
And you all thought I could not fit any more toys in the living room!As you can see, it was designed for kids 2-6 years old, not for adults. There is a ball pit at this end then a slide bridge to the bounce area.
Leeza is sitting in the ball pit. I didn't put any of the balls in the unit yet. That was a good thing because this is where mama sat for an hour trying to get the girls to bounce in the house. They even had fun once it was deflated. They ran across it to push the rest of the air out.Earlier in the day, they cleaned their play kitchen. A few more years and they will be tall enough to clean my kitchen and I will be very happy. The outfit Leeza is wearing is one that she got for Christmas. It was way too large then and she couldn't wear it. Now it fits perfectly. The pants fit very nicely when a month ago they fell off. They have outgrown almost all of the clothes I bought during my wait. I had thought I had enough clothes that I wouldn't have to buy any for a couple years, not just a couple months!

February already!

I am sitting here watching the girls on the monitor during nap time. They only thing they are not doing is napping. Sasha is currently dancing across the bed while Leeza claps her hands. A while ago, Sasha was doing the splits while Leeza was jumping up and down so high that I could hear the bed springs through the door. They have been in there about an hour now. I guess they are almost out of the napping stage, but Leeza still needs one to keep her from getting cranky later today and mama needs the break. Now Leeza is singing and Sasha is sprinting from one end of the bed to the other. Earlier today, we spent an hour jumping on the bed in the spare room so they should be tired. So I guess you could safely say everyone is feeling better. They like to play cooking.
It tastes good also.
Beads go well with any outfit. The girls are waiting for Frosty to come back inside. Frosty is waiting for the girls to go away before she will come in. Frosty got very cold waiting for the girls to give up on her.
Weekly update:
Leeza moved up to Size 5 pullups. Sasha, seeing this, decided she did not want to wear the size 4 anymore. She can tell by looking if it is a size 4 or 5. I can't. So she gets her way at home and I am using the rest of the size 4 at daycare. The size 5 are rather saggy on Sasha, but she is happy.
I finally put the size 18 shirts away and started Sasha wearing 2t, BUT they also looked a little small on her. She actually fits in a 3T fairly well for tops! She still wears 18 month pants, but they are getting tight. I guess we just need to roll the legs up on some size 24 pants.
The girls are talking a lot more, but I am understanding less. They are harder to understand even words they used to say clearly. I think it is just because they are trying to say several words strung together.
They learned Ring Around the Rosey at Daycare and now I have to sing it every night at bath time. They love to yell out the Ashes Ashes part and twirl around in the tub.
I finally got around to weighing the girls. Since I last weighed them(a little over a month ago), Leeza gained over a pound and now weighs a little over 30 lbs. Sasha also gained a pound and now weighs 27 lbs. Leeza also grew about 1/2 an inch. Sasha did not grow any that I could measure. When they first got home, together they weighed 50 lbs, now they are at 57 and heading to 60 lbs- no wonder it is getting harder to carry them together everyday.

Sasha ate carrots!

Sasha had carrots tonight for dinner and liked them!! Our first real veggie meal. Debbie Jr (I mean Leeza) of course would not even try them. She did let me put one in her mouth and then spit it out a second later. At least one kid has now eaten vegetables!
