Growing girls

We played dress up and then played on the slide this morning still in our outfits.
She is suppose to be dressed as a princess, but has parts from about 4 different outfits on. Plus the shoes are Sasha's size 5 shoes and she wears a size 7. I think she looks more like a hippie than a princess, but she is happy.
We wore our matching doggie tshirts today. Mama thinks we are cute when we dress alike.Sasha is still crazy over Curious George and whirls and twirls whenever the theme song comes on.She likes to run from one end of the room to the other. Today she twirled the whole way.
Eventually she falls down as she gets so dizzy.
When she finally gets tired(after watching the intro about 20 times), she starts to watch the video.
Leeza is now 36 1/4" tall. So she almost 3 inches taller than when she came home now. Sasha has had a growth spurt and is now at 33 3/4". Sasha is going on 29 lbs and Leeza is around 32 lbs. Leeza's long sleeve shirts are size 3T and are getting short in the arms and tummy. I guess size 4t starts at 33 lbs so she is almost there. She will still wear 3t pants for a while as they are plenty long. 4t is really long and don't fit her at all yet. Boy do kids grow fast! Leeza is getting picky with what she eats so she is getting thinner- not skinny since she had a little tummy before. Sasha was getting a little chubby, but with this latest growth spurt, she is back to looking pretty good. The 2t shirts I keep putting her in are too small and ride up on her tummy. I just hate to get so little use out of the long sleeve 2t shirts. She does wear 3t shirts a few days a week and they fit pretty good. ALl the clothes I bought for summer are 3t so far so I am going to start getting some 4t shirts. I think I will be keeping them in long pants at day care as they play pretty hard and usually come home with dirty pants. Plus both girls still fall down a lot and shorts would mean lots of skinned knees.
One month and 2 days from today, Leeza will turn 3!!!! One month and 4 days from today, we will have our 6 month home anniversary! The girls have been home almost 5 months now and it seems like they have been here forever. What did I do with my time before? Oh, that is right, I actually kept a clean house and slept occassionally. Aunt Debbie and cousin Niki will be here for Leeza's birthday. Grandpa is visiting in 2 weeks. Uncle Dan, Aunt Shawnna and cousin Kelsey wil be here at the end of May. Leeza starts preschool on April 26th and she will be moving to the 3 year old room at daycare in June so the girls have a pretty full and active calendar that next few months.

Pre school again

When I adopted two year olds, I never thought about all the school issues happening so quick. Since Leeza is set for preschool-yeah!- I decided to ask about the preschool at their daycare for Sasha this fall when she turns 3. It is doubtful that Sasha will qualify for the Pershing Center. She has to get a referral from her therapists and right now they all think she is doing great and doesn't qualify. That is good news that she is doing well, but makes school more difficult. She does however get to keep her therapists until she turn 3 in October so I think she will be mostly caught up by then. Since her birthday is in October, I found out she does not qualify for the preschool that is held at her daycare. That preschool is actually part of the school district so you have to be 3 by September 1st to qualify as they only allow you to go 2 years. So I either have to change daycares to one that has a private preschool this fall or wait until a year goes by and send her then. She really likes her daycare so I would hate to move her. I thought I wouldn't have to research schools until college! Not starting at preschool. I have a few months to see how Sasha is progressing until I have to decide. I have about 2 years set with Leeza then I have to decide what school she should go to for kindergarten-Pershing or the Mt Zion one. Both are very good. I guess there are different options for kindergarten now- half days, full days, different classes, different schools.........

Pre school

Leeza made it into the preschool that I was hoping for. She doesn't start until after she turns 3, but that is one less thing to worry about.

Early Easter presents

Aunt Debbie and Niki sent the girls an early Easter present. I let them open half of it early after we had lunch. They both are now really good at opening presents. I guess they learned that well at Christmas time.Leeza liked her bunny ears, but she liked to try to put them on Mama's head much better.Sasha's wouldn't stay on her head very well. I think she has such thick hair they just tended to slide off. She liked to put them on Mama's neck- not sure why, but she wanted me to wear them as a necklace. They also got one of the coloring books. There are a couple left for Easter weekend. I finally got the videos from my camera transferred to DVDs. The girls were fascinated by watching themselves on TV.
Weekly update:
Both girls love watching for ducks and trains on the way to daycare. Most of the "ducks" we see are actually geese, but we yell out duckies when we see them and then say bye bye duckie as we drive past. Leeza is really good at spotting trains. Decatur has a LOT of train tracks -I cross 10 different sets of tracks on the way to work each day. Whenever they see one close by, I have to roll down the window so they can hear the whistle.
I find out tomorrow whether Leeza gets into the preschool I want. Wish us luck.
Sasha talks continuously now giving Leeza little time to say much. I make sure Leeza has her chance though. Of course, tonight at supper, Leeza was leading the way by screeching at the top of her voice. Sasha had to join in of course. I think they were just trying to see how long it would be before I yelled.
Sasha is still in love with Curious George. I have 8 videos now so at least I can rotate them and not see the same one more than once a day.
They discovered the button to turn the TV off on the front of the TV. Now Leeza has to turn the TV off at least 2 or 3 times a day.
I have never liked Day light savings time. I like it even less with 2 two year olds. It is now just barely dark at 7:30 when I am trying to get them to sleep. Within a few weeks, it will start to be light at bedtime. I am going to have to get some room darkening curtains, but that will be something that the girls will want to play with all the time.

Owie Update

Now Leeza has fallen in the gym. She has a big bruise about the size of a quarter right above her eye. Poor babies. They get so excited when they get to run and play. I am so glad the weather is finally nice and they can get outside and play.

March

The weather finally turned nice last week and they went outside to play at daycare. Sasha was so excited she did not make it across the 5 ft of sidwalk to the grass before she did a face plant on the concrete. She scrapped her nose and put her front teeth into her lip and scrapped her lip up good. She spent the weekend showing mama her owie.

Since Spring finally seems close, we were trying on the jackets we have. Of course, no one would take off the jacket and we wore them all day. They had a tea party on their little table. Lots of glasses of tea.
Even Mr Monkey got to come to the tea party.
PINK! Pink pants, pink shirt, pink jacket, pink ball. Maybe I need to buy Leeza some more colorful clothes.
They are learning how to kick balls so I bought them some to practice. After about 5 minutes, I realized that they did not need any practice and they had a pretty good kick. Especially when it was coming right at me!
Weekly changes:
Leeza has finally decided she wants to try to dress herself. She does fairly well with her pull ups, but always wants to put her pants on backwards. She likes pockets and her pants have pockets in the back. she thinks it makes more sense to have them in the front. Sasha has started to copy her and put hers on backwards also. Most of their summer shorts have pockets in the front so they should be happythis summer.
Sasha is almost always talking in sentences now. I don't always understand what she says, so she gets upset when you cannot understnad her.
I think Sasha might be starting to be afraid of the dark. She has been acting afraid when I turn out the lights. it is hard to tell what is fear and what is stalling tactics to get mama's attention.

PreSchool

Leeza had her evaluation for preschool Wednesday. It lasted about 2 hours. She got to go into a room and play with toys and eat cookies. Mama got to talk to the nurse and therapist for an hour and then sit in the hallway waiting. I think she got the better part of the deal! She seemed to have a good time. She should qualify for the school based on her delays in speech, but I won't know until the 16th if she got in or not. You have to have delays to get in and since she is just learning english, she should get in, but so many people want to send their kids there since it is such a good place, it is hard to get in. They have really low student to teacher ratios-depending on age- one teacher for every 4-6 kids! Plus it is free so you can't beat that.

Since it was the rare occassion that I only had one girl, I took Leeza to McDonalds for her first ice cream cone after the evaluation. She has had ice cream before, but not a cone. She ate it soooo slowly and carefully. I had to show her how you eat it, but she caught on pretty quick. She seemed a little confused why Sasha was not there, but she seemed to forget about her once we got the ice cream. She fell asleep in her car seat on the way back to daycare. To quote one of Leeza's favorite books It had been a very very busy day.(she loves the Busy spider book)
