Sometimes. it is the little things that surprise you in how much they are changing. When they first came home, their fingernails and toenails were tiny and very thin which made it really difficult to trim them. Today, I was trimming them and realized that they were normal looking nails and were also big enough now that it was easy to trim. They are dressing themselves now except for when one doesn't want to wear any clothes that day and then mom will step in and put some clothes on their naked butt. They can both put on their shoes if they have velcro although neither can tie their shoes yet. Sasha is trying to do that, but isn't ready yet. Sasha also surprised me today when I gave them some jelly beans(leftover from Easter still). She picked each one up and correctly told me their color! Leeza has decided to talk on the phone again and boy can she pout when someone else wants to talk for a few minutes!

Quiet weekend

I'm back
I am getting my new computer set up. I am still trying to revive my old one, but it had a major electrical failure and is totally dead-no nothing nada. The girls were playing a game on it(ie bashing the keyboard) when it just stopped dead. I got my old laptop out, but it was not working well when I stopped using it secveral years ago. It didn't suddenly start working so I could access a few things, but most things like the blog were out.
Leeza is loving school. She talks about the school bus all the time. I think she is just very proud of herself for riding it and is happy that only she gets to go and not Sasha also.
We went out to Red Lobster as a family for Mother's day. The girls were really well behaved and it was a nice meal. They love watching other people especially babies. This was our first family only-mom and 2 kids meal out. It is good to know that we can do that now.
I'll have to measure the girls this weekend as I think Leeza has gone through another growth spurt. She just keeps getting taller.
The girls had their first dentist appointment this week. They did really good. No cavities. They were really well behaved. The dentist tried to look at Leeza first who started to cry and then I told her to try Sasha first. Sasha just opened her little mouth right up. Leeza then let her check her teeth-although there were a couple of tears. then they got to go to the dentist's treasure chest which is filled with braclets and necklaces. They ended up with a new toothbrush, 2 braclets, and 2 stickers each. Sasha started crying when we left and wanted to go back in.

School bus
So far Leeza has liked pre school, but has not loved the bus. By the end of the first week, she was getting on without major crying- just a few tears that quickly dried up. This week she seemed to be doing better. Wednesday, I found out when I got to day care that the bus had been 30 minutes late in dropping Leeza off at daycare after school. The next day, I found out that the bus had a substitute driver that day and had forgotten Leeza was on the bus and was driving it back to the bus yard when Leeza sneezed! So she had the grand tour bus ride that day. The bus is a small bus and only has a few kids on it so I don't know how you can forget a kid! Her day care was already on the phone looking for her.Now she seems to love the bus. It figures- that would scare most kids and make them hate the bus even more, but not my kid. Now she likes it!

May
Wow, I can't believe it is May. We had a busy Saturday. We played with the play dough. Then I got out a bag of clothes I had been given. The girls had a good time trying on everything and then spread the clothes all over the living room. Sasha made up her outfit from her favorite things in the bag. At least it is colorful!
After nap time, I let the girls play on the computer and then we went outside. We went on a bike ride which ended up with the girls walking around the block and me dragging the 2 bikes behind them. I'm not sure how it ended up that way, but I couldn't get them on the bikes after the first 50 feet. They played on the swings while I cooked dinner on the grill. Many tears followed when it was time to go in and eat. They love to swing.

It takes me a while to figure out what they are saying sometimes, but they are using new words every day.
Leeza has grown again. She is up to almost 33 lbs and has grown another 1/2 inch. That last pound feels like about 30 pounds when I try to pick her up.
Happy Birthday Frosty
Frosty turned 14 last Monday! She is doing good for 14 years old. She is still waiting for those noisy little things that chase her all the time to leave. She thinks she'd like to be their friend-if they would just stop pulling her ears and tail.
6 Months
Last Saturday was the 6 month anniversary of the girls coming home and us becoming a family. The girls have come so far in those few months. So many changes in our lives, but it has been a wonderful 6 months. Life has never been busier, but I have never been happier. I can't wait to see where we are in 6 more months.
