Snow and Baseball

 It was supposed to snow last night, so the girls wanted to go sledding.  Not quite enough to sled, but that never stopped them.

 Leeza pulled Sasha all over the yard

 Gotta have blue sparkly boots to complete the outfit.

 WHen it was Leeza's turn to ride, Sasha pulled her about 2 ft and that was it.

 Then it was off to baseball.  The real snow had started about an hour before we left.  If I knew how bad the roads were, I would never have gone.

 They finally played an inning.  Sasha played left field.  She was about excited as any kid playing left field.  She did get to catch the ball and then she stood there with it until the coach told her to throw it.  It really didn't matter since the batter had run out to the outfield anyway.  By the time they got him back to first base, about 5 kids had dropped the ball. 

 Leeza got a base hit.  She ran to first, but was mostly concerned that her batters helmet did not fall off.  Helmets were the one thing that I did not buy them.  Now she wants her own!!

The drive home was a nightmare.  It had snowed the whole time we were in baseball and there was probably 6 inches on the roads and no plows out. Cars were stuck in the middle of town on Rt 51 where they had stopped at a stop sign and could not get going again.  You could hardly see going home and there were cars all over the place.  It just seems funny a blizzard and spring training baseball practice on the same day.

Spring??

We spent the day outside.  First it was biking around the front block while I cleaned the garage.  Then after a quick trip to McDonalds, back outside for scooters and more biking.  Then the neighbor girl Addie came out and they were off playing.  They ended up in Addie's bedroom painting fingernails.  It was a nice 50 degree spring day, but the winds picked up and it is supposed to SNOW tomorrow.  I can't believe how cold it is staying this year.

Baseball Session 2

 The coach likes to pretend he is a grumpy old man, but he is really good with the kids and they listen to him.

 They started batting practice today.  Well, using just their hand.  Leeza tells the coach she is left handed!  Where did she get that?  I don't know about her sometimes.  She catches right handed, but uses her left when they toss her a ball to see if she is really left handed.  That's my Leeza!  If I say sun, she says moon!

St Patricks Day parade

 Last year it was short leeve shirts and 80s for St Patricks day parade.  This year is was 32 degrees and windchills.  We met Hailey and Melissa again this year and watched the parade with them.

 Collecting candy at the parade.  We ended up with a whole bag full.

 The girls like the fire trucks.  Not quite as much as the candy.

It was a cold cold day, but they had a good time.  I froze.

Spring Training Tball

 Yes, they do have spring training for tball.  We are doing it because t ball was 2-3 times a week and I have too much going on this summer for that kind of commitment.  Plus this is all catching throwing batting and very little standing in the outfield.  It is inside and is for 4-6 year olds.  They have 22 kids in the class and 7 coaches.  It gives kids lots of one on one attention.

 The first week we worked on throwing and catching ground balls.

 The girls wanted to wear jeans.  They never wear jeans, but now when they need to bend, they want to wear them! 

 I am glad they are learning how to throw a ball from someone who knows how.  I never did learn how to throw one right.

The field is surrounded by a wall so sometimes the pictures are through the plastic safety glass.  Later on they practiced running.  Leeza was bouncing so she got a late start, but still beat everyone.  Then they ran backwards the length of the field, Leeza was second becasue it took her a while to figure out how to do it.  The boy who won had practiced last year.  She is quite the runner.

Dr Seuss Week

 It was Dr Seuss week at school which meant every day they had to wear a special color shirt or hat or something.  To celebrate, Leeza helped me cook green eggs and ham.

The eggs have cheese on them and were pretty good.  Leeza loves to help me in the kitchen and is starting to do some cooking.  She already learned that burners are hot by the time honored way of touching it right after I told her it was hot and do not touch.  Sasha would much rather someone do it for her.  She likes to be waited on.

Basketball Finale

 Our last practice/game of the season.  Warmups.

 John is their coach and he is really good.  He teaches the fundamentals and having fun.  I've seen a few coaches who are teaching the kids to be super competitive and even yelling at them.  I just want to say- Hey, they are 5 years old and they are here to have fun.

 That basket looks really high when you aren't even 4 ft tall.  They lowered it to 8 feet which is still really high.

 Sasha is pretty good at dribbling and passing. 

 Leeza would rather dance on the court.  at least she is having fun.

 Or maybe the action at the other end of the court is more interesting.  Will anyone notice if I wander off?

 Sasha loves to be on the sidelines.

 This is how Leeza does basketball.  Runs to the end of the court as fast as she can.,  Almost always beating everyone.  But she keeps going all the way to the wall.  then she slowly comes back on the court and sort of tries to block.

 Sasha is a pretty casual ball player.  She will walk around the court and sometimes raise her arms.

 Yep, fast action on the court.  Does anyone know where the ball is?
