I have started reading this book since I need to do something to keep me occupied while waiting for news. (Absolutely no news, not one little bit of new info lately). This book is part travelogue, part history book, and really gives you a feeling for what the people are like in their day to day activities. It is also rather funny at times. If you are looking for a book to understand the Kazakhstan people a little better then I recommend this book.
The title comes from the fact that many people believe that Kazakhstan is the where apples are originally from.
