Juice

Leeza went to the refrig, opened it,got out the bottle of juice, got 2 glasses, poured her and Sasha glasses of juice, gave one to Sasha and drank one herself, put the now empty juice bottle in the garbage, and almost had the empty cups in the sink when I walked back into the room! I haven't let her pour any juice in glasses yet and I didn't think she could reach the juice in the refrig.
So am I freaked that she was walking around with a bottle of juice and could have spilled it, proud that she shared the juice and got her sister a glass too or sad that my little girls are growing up so fast???  I haven't decided yet!

Report Card

Leeza gets report cards from preschool.  They don't get grades, just progress marks with being ready for kindergarten as the goal.  Of course, it is not the kindergarten that I remember.  They need to know how to count to 100 by 1, 2s, 5s and 10s.  Know the alphabet and write their names....  They have a list of about 100 things they need to know how to do!  I just remember kindergarten more as learning how to go to a class each day without crying. Leeza gets 2 report cards- one fromclass and one from her therapists(physical and speech).  She scored 100 on her physical therapy report- meaning she has accomplished all the goals they set for her.  Yeah. I can tell as she runs so much better than 6 months ago and doesn't fall down like she did.  Her scores imporved in all areas in speech, but she still has a ways to go.  Leeza is making good progress in all class areas except scissors!  That is probably because I think it is a little crazy to give scissors to 3 year olds, but I guess I am wrong.  So I got the girls scissors and they have been having a ball with them.  Leeza likes to cut paper, but Sasha Loves to cut paper.  She will cut paper all day long into tiny tiny pices.  Leeza has also tried to cut Sasha's hair and her shirt(unsuccessfully so far).  She did manage to somehow cut Sasha's arm a little(it is more like a scrape).  The one area where she scored as ready for kindergarten is in class room routine!  Leeza is a girl who loves to have a routine so that is not surprising.
We are working on the different shapes and she does triangles, squares and diamonds pretty good.  Circles and curves are next.
The weather here has been a little wild lately.  We got 1/2 " of ice followed by 6-7 inches of sleet.  Then we got 3" of snow on top of that this weekend.  We went to Ace Hardware and got a sled.  We bundled up in coats and hats and mittens and went sledding in the driveway.
Sasha rode in the sled the whole time.  She enjoys being pulled around without the work.
The driveway is steep enough that the sled goes down it pretty good.  Leeza took one trip down in the sled and then wanted to pull it.  She likes to be in charge!  She would pull Sasha to the bottom of the driveway and then call for Mama to help pull Sasha back to the top.  They had a good time.  I also pulled them up and down the sidewalk and Sasha liked to see my footprints in the snow.
We didn't stay out for a long time since I am still sick and they were getting cold pretty fast.  Maybe next year we will be ready for a big hill.  Acutally they are probably already ready, it is just me who would be scared seeing them go flying down the hill!

Still sick

2 weeks ago, Leeza was sick and threw up on me about 9 times.  Surprisingly, I turned around and got sick.  I wonder why!  Then Leeza got a bad cough and fever.  She then shared it with Sasha.  So they both had it.  Leeza finally is feeling better, but Sasha keeps running a fever.  It comes and goes.  When it comes however, she gets really hot really fast.  Now I have the cold.  So me and Sasha are using all the kleenex up in the house.
Leeza drew a picture of me today.  I guess I must look really bad!  She was very proud of it though.  She just went from scribbling to actually trying to draw something.  So this is a big step for her.  Most things she draws look sort of like this, but it is so much better than random lines.

Independence

I am trying to let the girls be more independent.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  Sometimes, Leeza uses Sasha's face as the marker board instead of the new easel they have.
It was dry erase markers so it cleans off easily.

If I do leave them alone, they still come and find me and check in every 5 or so minutes.  When they don't, then I know they are up to something.  Leeza always gives it away when she is up to no good as she smiles when I ask her if she is being good!
About 30 minutes before this picture was taken, the play room had been clean and picked up.
All the little pieces were in their containers.  You notice that all the containers are now empty!
When you ask Leeza to pick things up, she will pick up one thing and then start playing with the second and forget the whole picking up part.

Sick

Leeza was sick last weekend. She spent all day Sunday vomiting.  The first few times right on me.  She did learn how to puke into the garbage can and to tell mama she was sick before she threw up.  I guess we had enough practice Sunday to learn this.  Sorry no new pictures, but I got sick on Monday so I am behind in everything.

The End of the Holidays

Christmas pictures this year were so much easier than last year.  Last year, it was me, Niki and Debbie, 3 cameras and a bag of gum drops and we still didn't get a good picture.  I like this picture of Leeza.  She is sitting in a chair that was my mom's when she was little and mine when I was little.  I think she looks like Debbie so much in this picture.  Plus she looks like such a big girl.
Here is Sasha pretending to be an angel.  She is my little angel, but she does have a streak of the devil in her too.
Such a difference a year makes.   I hope everyone had a good holiday season and a great 2010.   I wonder what 2011 will bring us.

Happy New Year

2010 was a good year for us. Leeza grew over 6 inches and gained 8 lbs.  Sasha grew almost 6 inches and gained 10 lbs.  They both have caught up in growth and are now where they should be for their age.  A year ago, we could barely communicate and the girls were sick almost every week.  So far this winter, we have had a few illnesses, but they aren't as bad or as long lasting as the girls now have the stregth and immunity built up in their systems to fight it.  Leeza's ear tubes are still looking good so no more ear infections.
Sasha's speech is now ahead of her age level.  Leeza is still a little behind, but has made a lot of progress especially the last few months.  Both girls can count to 20 and sometimes a little higher.  They both know their colors now.  So much for Leeza being color blind like I thought she might be.  She still has a very hard time telling blue and green apart, but that will come.  We are starting to work on recognizing and naming letters.  They know S,L, J and H.  They know their "big names"- Elizabeth and Alexandra now.
