Day 6- Bazaar

We went to the Bazaar and found some good presents to bring home, but it was HOT! You could have spent much more time there, but it was crowded and hot and I don't do well in crowds and heat. I also bought some plastic blocks for the girls to play with next week. Most of the toys I brought were too young for Big sister so I think she can have some fun with the building blocks. After the bazaar, we went to a restaurant for Plov. I'm not sure what the restaurant is called but it sounded something like Kasgoodey. The plov was very good and we sat at the traditional Kaz short tables on pillows. The tables are traditionally low and surrounded by pillows so you could relax or nap or talk while the food and tea was being prepared and served. Many older houses have these in there back yards and this is where most meals are served in good weather. The restaurant had a nice garden and yurt there although I did not get any pictures of them.

This is at the Plov restaurant.

This is Plov. It is rices, vegetables, and meat. You get 1/2 a hard boiled egg also. It was very good.

After we ate, we drove back to the center of town. We passed by a small shop that said National Souvenirs in english. Our coordinator stopped and Abby and I went in a had a mad shopping spree. Everything was hand made in the store so it was nice to get real Kaz souvenirs. They also only have one or two of each item so there were several shelves left bare once Abby and I were done! The lady in the shop went and got another lady to help her and they took me next door to their dress shop. They are going to make each one of the girls one of the traditional Kaz outfits including the hat. I will post pictures next week as it will take them a week to make them. The one I saw in the shop was very cute. We will go get them next Saturday.

I'm nothing if not a good shopper! I'm sure the ladies at the souvenir shop were thrilled that we stopped by. The outfits for the girls are going to be darling.

Julie-

The outfits for the girls sound adorable. You have to post a photo when you get them. That is the best thing about having girls. They will wear the fun and frilly stuff until a much older age then boys.

As I told Abby I am sorry I missed the ultimate Kaz shopping spree.
